Oct. 12th Collaborative Tech Talk: Natural Language Processing
Join CollabraSpace on October 12th from 4PM – 5PM for a Tech Talk on Natural Language Processing presented by CollabraSpace team member Victor Allen.
This tech talk will discuss one of the most popular machine learning fields of artificial intelligence Natural Language Processing or NLP. NLP is a branch of A.I. that gives the machines the ability to read, understand and derive meaning from human languages. All around us NLP is making our lives easier at every turn, yet we don’t often think about it. From predictive text to data analysis, NLP’s applications in our everyday lives are far-ranging.
In this class you will gain a foundational understanding in NLP methods and strategies with a focus on sentiment analysis. Sentiment Analysis is the classification of people’s opinion or expressions into different sentiments. Sentiments include Positive, Neutral, and Negative, Review Ratings and Happy, Sad. Sentiment Analysis can be done on different consumer centered industries to analyze people’s opinion on a particular product or subject. Students will also learn how to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of various NLP technologies and frameworks. After this lecture students will have access to a Jupyter Notebook, a real-world Twitter dataset, and step-by-step instructions to solve a sentiment machine learning problem as they gain practical experience in the NLP toolkits available.
This Tech Talk will be available for in person and virtual. A Google calendar invite will be sent out to all registrants.
Please note that CollabraSpace will be recording this tech talk.
