CollabraSpace Hires FBI Executive to Lead Company's Law Enforcement and Homeland Security Unit
Firm Supports Intelligence Community with Collaboration Software and Services
Annapolis, MD January 10, 2006 CollabraSpace™ a leading provider of web-based collaboration solutions for government and commercial enterprises, today announced that it has appointed former FBI executive Mark Tanner to the new position of business director, law enforcement and homeland security. Tanner will help CollabraSpace to further develop and customize secure, collaborative solutions for clients in the law enforcement, homeland security, and intelligence communities.
According to CollabraSpace's CEO Ray Schwemmer, collaboration is "mission critical" to agencies dealing with our nation's intelligence and homeland security. The Department of Defense, the National Security Agency and the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency are among the federal organizations the company currently provides collaboration software and services to.
"Law enforcement information is now expected to be forwarded to other intelligence agencies for use in all-source products, making collaboration a vital part of their operations. Mark's experience with the FBI will be invaluable in showing our law enforcement and homeland security clients how to maximize the use of collaboration," adds Schwemmer.
Prior to joining CollabraSpace, Tanner spent 22 years with the FBI, most recently as director of the Foreign Terrorist Tracking Task Force, Counterterrorism Division. As part of this national, multi-agency group, Tanner was responsible nfor managing more than 170 contractors and government personnel, providing tactical intelligence to deter threats and keep foreign terrorists and their supporters out of the United States.
"Having the means to access a range of experts and distribute vital, time-sensitive information is a major part of preparing for and responding to large scale emergencies," said Schwemmer. "Collaboration is essential in running these organizations effectively."
The Gartner Group, the world's leading provider of research and analysis on information technology, reports that the demand within organizations for real-time and team-based collaboration technologies will drive the collaborationsoftware market to $681.7 million in 2005. By 2008, the market is expected to reach $1.1 billion.
Tanner has attended professional workshops at Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management and the FBI's Executive Development Institute and Leadership Forum. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from East Carolina University.
