ARINC Chooses Collabraspace For Air Defense System Collaboration Tools

Joint Solution to Improve Information Transfer Among Five Air Force Sites

Annapolis, Md. — June 13, 2005 — CollabraSpace™, a leading provider of web-based collaboration solutions for government organizations and private enterprise, today announced it has been selected by ARINC Engineering Services, LLC to help provide five U.S Air Defense sites with integrated collaboration solutions in support of the Air Forces's Collaborative Decision Aid (CDA) system demonstration.

After the events of 9/11, the role of Air Defense changed from focusing solely outside the U.S. for security threats to looking within the country as well. With this new mandate came an increased need for more effective information transfer among the decision-making and command, control and surveillance systems required to intercept and prosecute potential targets of interest.

"We were impressed with the flexibility, security and customization that CollabraSpace's solution contributed to the CDA system," said Michael Seldes, ARINC Engineering Services Homeland Defense Technical Director. "These capabilities allow for real time parallel decision making and time critical information exchange."

CollabraSpace's solution integrates web-based collaboration tools with VoIP audio conferencing capabilities within a secure, highly reliable environment that allows individual customization of the information display through web portal technology.

"This opportunity to provide ARINC with integrated collaboration technology furthers CollabraSpace's goal to provide the Federal government and defense organizations with the most robust and secure collaboration tools available," said Ray Schwemmer, CollabraSpace president and CEO. "We're pleased to be part of this important work."

CollabraSpace tools and technologies are designed to accommodate custom collaboration solutions. Each tool can be configured as a separate component and combined in a way that makes sense for individual organizations. Collectively, the components are known as CollabraSuite™, a set of graphical building blocks that can be used in a web-based portal or to create a Java application.

CollabraSpace also recently announced its participation in the BEA Systems Partner Program at the Select Partner level, and its certification by the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) for inclusion in the Defense Collaboration Tool Suite (DCTS) for use on Department of Defense (DoD) networks.

Effective Border Management Through Collaboration
Since September 11, 2001, many federal agencies, including the Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Department of Justice (DOJ) have been charged with improving inter- and intradepartmental communication to counter threats to homeland security and are required to involve state and local governments and the private sector. Such joint operational planning and coordination during execution is required for effective border management, and maximizing the effectiveness of operations requires collaboration.Download PDF (94K)
