CollabraSpace releases version 2.2.2
Company releases version 2.2.2 of Collaboration Software
Arnold, Md.April 25, 2002 CollabraSpace™ released today version 2.2.2 of their Collaboration Software. The major new enhancement in this release is the addition of internal audio and video conferencing capabilities. This capability is based upon Sun Microsystem's Java Media Framework API (JMF). Using this technology will allow CollabraSpace to leverage off of the portability of Java across multiple operating systems.
In previous releases, CollabraSpace supported the use of an external audio and video capability. However, the new approach of using JMF will provide a more integrated look and feel and a smoother collaboration experience for the user.
Another minor feature in this release is the enabling of "jar caching". This technique reduces the client startup time drastically. There is a one time delay when the user accesses the web application for the first time, but subsequent accesses avoid the download process. In addition, the cache will automatically upgrade itself on the client side when new releases are made available on the server.
