Java Study Group

CollabraSpace started a Java Study Group and the group had it’s first meeting! A group of CollabraSpace employees are working together before taking the Oracle Java Standard Edition 6 Programmer Certified Professional Exam. CollabraSpace wants to give every team member the chance to succeed, so the company is paying for any materials needed for the study group. CollabraSpace is also paying for the exam fee when the group takes the Java exam.

Supporting the Community

CollabraSpace helped support the AFCEA Central Maryland Chapter’s Science Fair Program this past week at a local elementary school. The program is a great opportunity to interact with the future engineers and scientists, and is just one of many activities that the AFCEA chapter provides that gives back to the community. CollabraSpace team members volunteered to help judge the science fair and represent our team.

CollabraSpace Donates IT Equipment to Local School Program

After doing some “spring cleaning” at the corporate office, the CollabraSpace IT Department donated laptops, desktops, printers, projectors, networking equipment, servers and more to the Howard County Schools Applications and Research and Laboratory (ARL) program. The ARL allows students to participate in advanced courses in their interest or study to proceed in the direction of their college/career goals. Some of the courses allow certification or prepare them to take the applicable test to obtain certification in areas such as CISCO, COMPTIA A+ and Redhat Linux.

CollabraSpace’s Chief Technology Officer and one of the company’s co-founders, Rick Havrilla has won a 2011 SmartCXO award from Baltimore SmartCEO magazine.

The SmartCXO awards recognize executives from the Baltimore area who have gone above and beyond to support their organizations’ initiatives in the categories of CFO, COO, CIO/CTO and executive management teams. Rick and the other chief executives who have demonstrated superior leadership will be honored on April 7, 2011 at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore.
